Master Muse Furtado Biography

Master Jim Muse Furtado has been studying the Martial Arts for over 34 years. He holds a 7th degree black belt in the rare Martial Art Kang Duk Won.  Master Jim Muse Furtado is also trained and highly degreed in Northern Monkey Kung Fu, Taoist Yoga, Kenpo Karate, Chi-Kung, Boxing, Kick-Boxing, and Muay-Thai.

He teaches six days a week at his studio, the United School of Martial Arts in Whittier, California. His teachings include Tai Shing Pek Kwar Monkey Kung Fu, Taoist Yoga, Kang Duk Won as well as the occassional boxing class to keep his students on their toes.

Master Jim Muse Furtado has appeared in film, TV, and exclusive DVD’s. He has written several articles for and been featured in one of the major Martial Arts Magazines, "Inside Kung Fu."  Master Jim Muse Furtado has also had the honor of being inducted into six "MARTIAL ARTS HALL OF FAMES."  He has done various martial arts programs for Whittier’s cable channel and has also appeared in numerous martial arts magazines and movies. Master Jim Muse Furtado is also a singer, songwriter, poet, and screenplay writer.  He is founder of "THE UNITED DRAMA GROUP" through which he teaches drama to his students and has had them perform plays for the past 9 years at various theaters. 

Master Muse Furtado became one of the best fighters in the 1980's.  Chuck Norris won the Famous LONG BEACH INTERNATIONAS, (Promoted by the late Ed Parker) a few times but Master Furtado proudly won it 11 times in the fighting, forms and weapons division. He is also a WKA CHAMPION and was rated the number one fighter in California and Nevada.

Master Muse learned his Taoist Yoga and Kung Fu skills from Master Paulie Zink who instructed him in a very rare Northern Chinese Kung Fu style, Tai Shing Pek Kwar (Ax Fist, Monkey Kung Fu).  Master Zink is the only non-Chinese entrusted with this art by his teacher, Grand Master Cho Chat Ling.  Master Zink is considered America’s “Monkey King.”  Master Muse with Master Zink’s permission is the one of the few openly teaching this rare and wonderful Kung Fu art.
